あらすじ

19世紀半ばのルイジアナの大農園を舞台に、奴隷問題にメスを入れたK・オンストットのベストセラーを映画化。 牧場のように黒人奴隷を育て売買する農園主マクスウェルとその息子ハモンド。ハモンドは名門の娘ブランチと結婚するが、彼女が処女でなかったために怒り狂い、愛情を美しい黒人女に注いでいた。
