ウォルター・ヒル

プロフィール

米ミシガン州立大学卒業後、石油採掘や土木業従事した後、映画「華麗なる賭け」（68）、「泥棒野郎」（69）などで助監督を務める。その後、脚本家に転身し、「殺人者にラブ・ソングを」「ゲッタウェイ」（ともに72）などの脚本を執筆。チャールズ・ブロンソン主演作「ストリートファイター」（75）で監督デビューを果たし、以降「ザ・ドライバー」（78）や、「ウォリアーズ」（79）、「ストリート・オブ・ファイヤー」（84）など硬派なアクション作品で定評を得る。西部劇「ロング・ライダーズ」（80）がカンヌ国際映画祭に出品されて注目を浴び、バディムービー「48時間」（82）は興行的に大ヒット、続編「48時間 PART2 帰って来たふたり」（90）でもメガホンをとった。近年の監督作に「バレット」（13）、「レディ・ガイ」（17）など。「エイリアン」シリーズ（79～17）の製作陣にも名を連ねる。
