ヘンリー・フォンダ

プロフィール

アメリカ・ネブラスカ州グランドアイランド生まれ。20歳でアマチュア劇団に参加し、25年に初舞台。29年にはブロードウェイの舞台に立つ。35年「運河のそよ風」で映画デビューを果たし、「丘の一本松」（36）「暗黒街の弾痕」（37）「若き日のリンカン」（39）など作品にも恵まれ、またたくまにスターとなる。戦時中はアメリカ海軍に入隊し、青銅星章と大統領感状が授与された。戦後も「荒野の決闘」（46）「十二人の怒れる男」（57）など映画史上に残る名作に続々出演。晩年はゲスト出演が多かったが、遺作となった「黄昏」（81）でアカデミー賞主演男優賞を受賞した。俳優のジェーン・フォンダとピーター・フォンダは実子。
